CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop

Step 1 - Installing a download edition of CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop

• Your CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop Product Key
• A download link

Download CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop software and maps to your laptop

• Click on the download link in the order confirmation email and save the CoPilot.EXE file to a location on your laptop

• Once the file download is complete, double click the CoPilot.EXE file.
• CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop should begin to install automatically to your laptop.
• Select your required language for on-screen instructions.
• Review and accept the end user license agreement.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

Step 2 - Starting Up

• Choose your preferred language for on-screen text and voice guidance.
• Select a voice for spoken instructions

Step 3 - Product Key entry

• You will be asked to enter a Product Key. You can find your 25 digit Product Key in your order confirmation email.

Step 4 - Activation

• Activate your license. To do this, you will first need to create a CoPilot ID by entering an email address and password of your choice.

• The easiest way to activate your license is automatically using your laptop's Internet connection.
• Once your license has been successfully activated, you may be asked to select and confirm a map region.

Step 5 - First time setup

• Choose between Imperial and Metric for the unit of measurement used in maps and instructions.
• Review and accept the end user license agreement.

Step 6 - GPS setup

1. Built-in GPS receiver setup
   If your laptop has a built-in GPS receiver, CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop will automatically use this for navigation. Note: CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop must recognize and be able to connect to your laptop's built-in GPS receiver to use it by default. You may need to try connecting to it manually if CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop cannot connect to it automatically.
2. Bluetooth GPS receiver setup
   If you are using a Bluetooth GPS receiver, you will first need to create a partnership between your Bluetooth GPS receiver and your laptop. Here's how:
   • Switch on your Bluetooth receiver.
   • Select Setup GPS.
   • Select Advanced Options and then Bluetooth as your GPS receiver type.
   • Select your GPS receiver from the search results list to pair it with your laptop.

• See how you can scroll the information displayed on your screen. (Applicable to touch screen laptops only)
• Review and accept the Safety Warning for CoPilot Live v8 Truck Laptop.

CoPilot Live v8 (Windows Mobile / Android)

Before you begin

1. Completely uninstall any previous version of CoPilot Live from your mobile device
    
2. Set the correct location, date and time on your mobile device
    
3. Check that you have sufficient space on a memory card for CoPilot's maps and software (512 MB or larger for a single region or 4 GB for continental maps)

Step 1: Download CoPilot Live v8 software and maps to your desktop computer

1. Download the software to a location on your desktop computer
2. Once the maps are downloaded, right-click on the downloaded zip file and select 'Extract All'
3. You should now have 2 new folders on your PC: '2577' and 'CoPilot'

Step 2: Transfer CoPilot Live v8 software and maps to your memory card

Note: if your phone has a large internal storage (for example HTC Touch Diamond) then you may not need a memory card, and can transfer the maps directly

The easiest way to do this is using a memory card reader

1. Insert your memory card into your desktop computer's card reader
2. Browse to the memory card using your desktop computer's file explorer
3. Copy the 2577 and CoPilot folders onto the main directory of your memory card
4. Once the transfer is completed, please insert the memory card into your mobile device

1. Insert your memory card into the card slot in your mobile device
2. Connect your mobile device to your desktop computer using a synchronization cable
3. Browse to the memory card in your mobile device using your desktop computer's file explorer
4. Copy the 2577 and CoPilot folders from your desktop computer onto your memory card

Step 3 - Install CoPilot Live on your mobile device

1. If your mobile device is connected to your desktop PC, disconnect it now
2. Insert the memory card into your mobile device (if not already inserted)
3. CoPilot Live installation should begin automatically after a few seconds. If not, use your mobile device's file explorer to browse to the 2577 folder on the memory card and tap 'Autorun'
4. Select an installation location when prompted on-screen. We recommend that you install CoPilot to your device
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation

Note: For installing to an Android smartphone, complete installation by visiting www.copilotlive.com/androidinstall from your Android web browser.

CoPilot Live v8 Laptop

• Completely uninstall any previous version of CoPilot Live from your Laptop

• Click on the download link above and save the .EXE file to a location on your laptop
• Once the file download is complete, double click the CoPilot.EXE file and follow the on-screen instruction to complete setup.

• Choose your preferred language for on-screen text and voice guidance.
• Select a voice for spoken instructions.

• Activate your license. To do this, you will first need to create a CoPilot ID by entering an email address and password of your choice.
• What is a CoPilot ID? A CoPilot ID is your personal CoPilot account identity. Your CoPilot ID lets you activate your license and use CoPilot's Live services. You can also choose to receive important information on software and map updates via email. The easiest way to activate your license is automatically using your laptop's Internet connection.
• Once your license has been successfully activated, you may be asked to select and confirm a map region.

• Choose between Imperial and Metric for the unit of measurement used in maps and instructions.
• Review and accept the end user license agreement.
• See how you can scroll the information displayed on your screen. (Applicable to touch screen laptops only)

CoPilot Live v8 Truck, Windows Mobile

• A software download link

Before you begin installation

• Desktop computer with an Internet connection
• Your own memory card*
• Memory card reader
• Synchronisation cable and software supplied with your mobile device

*Check that you have a suitable memory card and ensure it has sufficient storage space for the CoPilot Live v8 Truck's software and maps.

CoPilot Live v8 Truck will require the following storage space:

• 2GB for maps of one country/region
• 4GB for maps of a continent

Please consult the documentation supplied with your device for details on the type of memory card required. Memory card not required for devices with an internal storage drive or for devices that do not have a memory card slot.

Starting Up

• Switch on your mobile device.
• Set the correct location, date and time.

IMPORTANT:
Please uninstall any versions of CoPilot Live software or previous versions of CoPilot Truck that you may have on your mobile device before you begin installation.

Step 1: Download CoPilot Live v8 Truck software and maps to your desktop computer

• Click on the download link in the order confirmation email and save the file to a location on your desktop computer.
• Once the file has downloaded successfully, right-click on the downloaded zip file and select 'Extract All'.
• Two new folders, named 2577 and CoPilot, should have been created in the location you chose to extract the zip file on to your PC.
• You will now need to transfer the CoPilot Live v8 Truck software and maps from your PC to your memory card (or device's internal storage drive if available) using one of the ways described in step 2.

Step 2: How to transfer CoPilot Live v8 Truck software and maps to your memory card

Option 1 - Copy CoPilot Live v8 Truck software and maps using a memory card reader
 
• Insert your memory card into your memory card reader.
• Browse to the memory card using Windows Explorer on your desktop computer.
• Copy the 2577 and CoPilot folders from your desktop computer onto the main directory of your memory card.
• Once the files have copied successfully, insert the memory card into your mobile device. Go to step 3.

Option 2 - Transfer the files to a memory card in your mobile device using synchronisation software and cable
 
• Insert your memory card into the memory card slot of your mobile device.
• Connect your mobile device to your desktop computer using the synchronisation software and cable.
• Browse to the memory card in your mobile device using Windows Explorer on your desktop computer.
• Copy the 2577 and CoPilot folders from your desktop computer onto the main directory of your memory card. Go to step 3.

Step 3 - Install CoPilot Live v8 Truck on your mobile device

• If your mobile device is connected to your desktop PC, disconnect it now
• Insert your memory card into the memory card slot of your mobile device (if you haven't already inserted it)
• CoPilot Live v8 Truck should begin to install automatically to your mobile device. If not, use File Explorer on your mobile device to browse to Storage Card > 2577 folder, then select 'AUTORUN'.
• You will be asked to select a location for your installation. We recommend that you install CoPilot Truck on your Device.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
• Once CoPilot Live v8 Truck has successfully installed on your device, go to step 4.

Step 4 - Start CoPilot

Step 5 - First time setup

• Choose your preferred language for on-screen text and voice guidance.
• Select a voice for spoken instructions.
• Enter your 25 digit Product Key which you will find in your order confirmation email.
• Activate your license. To do this, you will first need to create a CoPilot ID by entering an email address and password of your choice.

• The easiest way to activate your license is automatically using your mobile device's Internet connection.

• Once your CoPilot Live v8 Truck application has been activated successfully, select OK. Depending on the license you purchased on the web-store, you may need to select and confirm a map region. For example, UK & Ireland.

• Choose between Imperial and Metric for the unit of measurement used in maps and instructions.
• Review and accept the end user license agreement.
• See how you can scroll the information displayed on your screen.
• Select your vehicle type from the list. Choose from Truck, Automobile, Motorcycle, Bicycle, Walking or RV (Recreational Vehicle)
• If you selected Truck from the listing above, enter the Max Height, Max Width, Total Length, Total Weight and Total Axle Weight of your truck.
• Customise your routing, by indicating your preference for a road type and setting a speed for each road. For example, choose to strongly favour motorways and set the speed for motorways as 60 MPH.
• Select any hazmat restrictions that may apply to the load you are transporting. The options are None, Explosives, Harmful to water, Flammable or All Hazmats.
• Choose how to handle toll roads along your route. The options are: Always Avoid, Avoid If Possible or Use.
• Choose whether or not to display truck warnings and set the distance ahead to receive warnings.
• Select the most practical or shortest routing type.
• You can save your preferences as a routing profile by entering a profile name, or you can skip this step.
